As the designer for the highly anticipated 2023 Hip-Hop Block Party at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC), I undertook the creative responsibility of visually representing the anniversary of 50 years of hip-hop’s artistry, and innovation.
Reflecting on the success of the inaugural 2022 Hip-Hop Block Party, where my designs contributed to an immersive experience for over 8,000 attendees and thousands more online, the challenge for 2023 was to surpass expectations. We were able to do this with an emersive social media campaign, ad marketing strategy, and website design.
The event was a massive success with a turnout of over 12,000 people and performances and guest appearances by many well known hip-hop artists such as Queen Latifah, Remy Ma, Vic Jagger, DJ Heat, and many more.
