The Women’s Summit at The National Museum of African American History and Culture is a Virtual Summit recognizing African American women in the arts and culture, including television and film, visual art, music, spoken and written word and dance.
I served as the creative force behind the event's digital presence, curating compelling graphic designs and motion graphics for both the website and email campaigns. My role was pivotal in shaping the visual narrative and ensuring a seamless, engaging experience for the audience
The Kids First Campaign is a fundraising tool that is meant to ensure that the children and staff at The Children’s Guild have the resources needed to make a difference in each child’s life.
Me and my team worked closely with the Chief Mission Advancement Officer in order to decide on the brand and best way to make this campaign come to life. What resulted is a series of video projects that appeal to the emotions of staff and donors. I came up with a brand identity to include on print and web materials as well as participated in three days of filming which included going to each of our school locations and our corporate headquarters. I made sure to get the best footage I could of staff and how they truly feel about the company and the children that they serve every day. The resulting footage was amazing!
We decided on one long-form video and a series of short “stories” about why staff love coming to work at The Children’s Guild. These videos and design projects have already resulted in a number of campaign donations that continue to help The Children’s Guild reach their financial goals.
#HiddenHerstory is a campaign that The National Museum of African American History and Culture runs every year during Women’s History Month. In this year of commemorating Women's History Month, my role as the designer was not merely about creating visuals but crafting an immersive journey celebrating the achievements and resilience of women throughout history.
My intent with this campaign was to blend graphic elements that honored the past while embracing the present and future aspirations of women. The result was a visual narrative that not only acknowledged the remarkable contributions of women across generations but also sparked meaningful conversations. We were able to earn more than 64,000 engagements and nearly 2 million impressions across social media platforms.
The success of this endeavor was not only recognized within Smithsonian and NMAAHC circles but also on a broader stage. I and my team were honored to have been awarded first place in the “Best in Visual Editing” category at the 2022 Ragan Video, Visual, & Virtual Awards. This accolade serves as a testament to the effectiveness of the design in communicating a powerful message and resonating with audiences on a profound level.

One of the first projects I lead at the Museum of African American History and Culture was a brand refresh for the museum’s videos. I took the helm as the creative force behind reimagining the opening and closing cards. Here you can see motion graphic elements I created as well as a recap video also edited by me, utilizing the updated branding.
Every year the team at The National Museum of African American History and Culture sets out to produce a campaign that will immerse our audience in the historical and cultural depth of Juneteenth,
This year, as previously done we crafted a visual identity that transcended mere aesthetics. The campaign design aimed to honor the resilience, freedom, and cultural richness associated with this momentous occasion. Every visual element was thoughtfully curated to help a modern audience resonate more deeply with the historical journey of Juneteenth.
This resulted in a 5-week campaign of social media messaging leading up to Juneteenth. The first week featured social media content covering the first Juneteenth and how it became a federal holiday. Week 2 covered the story of how freedom was deferred for some slaves as well as the issues newly freed slaves faced. The next week put the focus on historically Black food and its connection to Juneteenth and African American culture. Music and its relationship with slavery and freedom was the next topic. The last week’s content centered on the contemporary significance of Juneteenth and the history of family reunions. We were able to generate 371,000 social media views and nearly 84,000 engagements.
This campaign was awarded the 2023 Ragan Video, Visual, and Virtual award for best editing in visual design. You can read the Ragan Award write up for this campaing here:

2022 marked the year for the first ever Hip-Hop block party at The National Museum of African American History and Culture. With the event commemorating the first anniversary of the release of the Smithsonian Anthology of Hip-Hop and Rap, my role as a designer was to craft a visual landscape that mirrored the vibrancy and influence of hip-hop. The challenge was not only to capture the essence of hip-hop as a musical genre but also to reflect its broader impact on culture and society.
Design elements created ranged from instagram filters to promotional materials to backdrops for the performances on the main stage. The event was a success with a turnout of over 8,000 people and performances by artists such as The Halluci Nation and Grammy-nominated rapper D Smoke
As the designer for the highly anticipated 2023 Hip-Hop Block Party at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC), I undertook the creative responsibility of visually representing the anniversary of 50 years of hip-hop’s artistry, and innovation.
Reflecting on the success of the inaugural 2022 Hip-Hop Block Party, where my designs contributed to an immersive experience for over 8,000 attendees and thousands more online, the challenge for 2023 was to surpass expectations. We were able to do this with an emersive social media campaign, ad marketing strategy, and website design.
The event was a massive success with a turnout of over 12,000 people and performances and guest appearances by many well known hip-hop artists such as Queen Latifah, Remy Ma, Vic Jagger, DJ Heat, and many more.
